DIY, done right
A woman's touch for your home's toughest jobs
I’m a local handywoman based in Horsforth, offering friendly, professional DIY, repair, and design help, especially for women, pensioners, new mums, and anyone who wants someone they can trust in their home.
My approach is practical, personal, and rooted in experience. I trained hands-on for two years in a furniture restoration shop, learning how to strip, repair and revive antique furniture. That’s where I learned to use tools properly, to spot potential in the worn-out, and to care about things that still have life left in them.
Later, I trained in soft furnishings and fabric upcycling, learning to work with industrial sewing machines and interior textiles. So today, I bring not just a drill and paintbrush—but a sewing machine too. If you’ve got curtains that need shortening or cushions that need saving, I can help.
I’ve also restored most of my 150-year-old Yorkshire stone house. It took three years, many late evenings, and a strong relationship with my toolbox. And for fun? I once built a full-size Canadian canoe out of discarded skip wood. Yes, it floated!
So no, this isn’t just DIY. It’s craft, care, and a little creative magic.
No upselling. No rushed jobs. Just honest fixes, thoughtful finishes, and a respect for things worth keeping.
